A 20-year career in the entertainment industry is a dream many outside the space wish for. Shane Jordan got into the industry when he was very young and has experienced glamor and excitement for over 20 years. He’s acted in several movies over the years, but his roles in the 2003 movie True Stories From the Morgue and the 2012 Mob Doctor were his most notable.
On the music front, he’s worked with Rick Hendrix Entertainment to promote music from superstars like Mariah Carey, U2, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson, among others.
Although these were major accomplishments, they were not enough for Jordan. The way he saw it, more needed to be done in the world, and he decided he would be on the frontlines.
He became a staunch human rights activist who wanted to see a change in the social landscape. From 2008 to 2016, he served on Hillary Clinton’s finance team in her bid for president. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, it provided him a much-required period of self-reflection to observe the world around him.
It was appalling to him that instead of looking for ways to save lives, many Americans chose to disregard directives meant to help them. The ones who ignored masks made him doubly angry because they represented the worst form of selfishness.
Convinced he needed to do something about it, he turned to authorship and co-wrote a national best-selling humor book with Rick Hendrix in 2020. The book Wear the Damn Mask, from Gallery and Simon & Schuster, was released in the fall of 2020 and debuted at number two on the Nielsen BookScan charts. It won the People’s Choice Webby Award for Best Internet Content in 2020.
Shane Jordan is passionate about animal rights as well, and his dog Izzy is proof of that. Izzy the Frenchie, as she is popularly known, is a canine influencer with her own Instagram and TikTok platforms. She has over 1 million followers on Instagram and over 600,000 followers on TikTok. She was featured in Wear the Damn Mask wearing a mask of her own as she went about her business. At the moment, Jordan and his co-author are working on a new book that will also feature her.
As someone who has achieved successes others can only dream of, Shane Jordan knows a few things about attaining one’s goals. First, not everyone will be accepted in the spaces they want to get into, but that’s still okay. They just need to stick to their beliefs and convictions. For him, he overcame that by looking for like-minded people to surround himself with.
Second, it’s important to be practical in approaching success. One must plan what they want their future to look like and then start slowly. If they have a solid five- or ten-year plan, getting there will just be a matter of time.
Third, always know one’s worth. Inevitably, everyone will be told, “No!” a lot, but that should not mean stop. Each individual is the only one who knows what they truly want, and only they will know when they finally find it.
