It is almost impossible to talk about the Salesforce ecosystem without mentioning Matt Meyers. Matt has worked in the ecosystem for more than 15 years and holds the highest certification in the industry. Matt is among the 400 experts who hold the certified technical architect certification, making him one of the few in the field. Matt is also an entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of Adaptus, a company that developed a software virus scanning cyber security platform for Salesforce.
But what most do not know about Matt is that he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Matt has built his success from the ground up and now shares his journey with us.
According to Matt, he has always loved technology and business, which pushed him to start his journey in the Salesforce ecosystem. Matt didn’t come from a financially stable family. Most of his family members were entrepreneurs, and although they didn’t earn much, Matt admired how they ran their businesses. He says that their experience inspired him to learn more about the entrepreneurial space, which led Matt to Salesforce.
Matt started out as a Salesforce developer, and within a few months, he was an expert. Matt had a strategy: surround himself with like-minded individuals and experts in the field as he continued researching how to become an excellent Salesforce developer. This helped him break into the space faster, and Matt quickly gained his first few certifications.
But Matt didn’t feel at home yet. He had not reached his target, and as much as he loved working as a Salesforce developer, Matt wanted to try something new. He then joined a global consulting company, HCL, working as a Salesforce consultant, a position he held for a few years before he left for a position at Salesforce.
Matt met someone who was a sales executive at Salesforce who helped him get in contact with a recruiter, prompting his move from HCL to Salesforce. While working at Salesforce, Matt also learned more about Salesforce consultants and wanted to add more skills to his resume.
Looking back, Matt says that taking on this challenge and sitting for the Certified Technical Architect test was one of the most difficult steps. It is also one of the most rewarding as it pushed him to step out of his comfort zone and drive ideas that are now making a difference in the business world.
“When it comes to something that requires us to step out of our comfort zones, most of us are scared. We fear that we might fail and convince ourselves that the risk is not worth taking. But the only way to add to our skill set and even challenge our thinking is by taking that step,” says Matt.
The first time Matt sat for the Certified Technical Architect test, he didn’t pass. But he didn’t give up. He went back to the drawing board, invested in research, and today, Matt is among the 400 people in the world who have this certification. Matt has reached a director level and led all of Salesforce’s program architects in the public sector.
As Matt Meyers continues to excel, he is redefining the corporate space. Matt brings his 15+ years of experience and many certifications to the table and helps organizations secure and protect their Salesforce data. To help other young Salesforce consultants, Matt has also launched an online platform where he shares tips and the lessons learned.
